Job Title:  Assistant Grocery Manager
Location:  Higher Folds Community Centre, Leigh
Salary:      Based on experience
Hours:      33-35 hours including Saturdays

About Us:
Higher Folds Community Grocery is a community-focused grocery store dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable products to local families during challenging times. We’re looking for a motivated and experienced Grocery Manager to help us grow and continue serving our customers with excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily store operations, including inventory management and staff scheduling.
  • Build relationships with local suppliers to source quality, cost-effective products.
  • Manage budgets and track sales to meet monthly targets.
  • Ensure the store is clean, organized, and fully stocked.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety and Food Hygiene regulations.
  • Food labelling to meet all necessary requirements.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Train and supervise a small team of employees and volunteers.
  • Develop and implement promotional strategies to boost sales.
  • Driving a van to Manchester and other areas for the supplies and delivering food hampers.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience in grocery retail or a similar managerial role.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • A passion for supporting the local community and understanding their needs.
  • Budget management and sales forecasting experience.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to adapt to challenges and find creative solutions.
  • Clean driver’s license is required.
