Location: Higher Folds Community Centre
Hours:  Part Time (16 hours plus flexible)
Duration: 9 months, with the potential for extension and more hours.

Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Nursery Practitioner to join our vibrant and nurturing team. As a Nursery Practitioner, you will provide high-quality care and education for children, ensuring their safety, development, and happiness in a stimulating and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Childcare & Development:

  • Support the physical, emotional, and educational needs of children aged 12 months – 4 years.
  • Plan and implement engaging activities and learning experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Monitor and document children’s progress and milestones, maintaining accurate records.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure the environment is safe, clean, and hygienic at all times.
  • Follow safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the welfare of all children.
  • Administer first aid when necessary (training provided if needed).

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate records of children’s development and attendance.
  • Observe and report for key children where required.

Compliance:

  • Adhere to nursery policies, procedures and statutory requirements, including Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with colleagues to create a welcoming and inclusive setting.
    • Build strong relationships with parents and caregivers, providing regular updates on their child’s progress.
    • Attend team meetings and participate in staff training and development sessions.
  • General Duties:
    • Assist with meal times, nappy changes, and other routine care tasks.
    • Maintain the nursery’s resources, ensuring toys and materials are in good condition.
    • Contribute to the overall smooth running of the nursery.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential:
    • Level 3 Diploma in Childcare or equivalent (e.g., CACHE, NVQ, or T Level).
    • Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
    • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
  • Desirable:
    • Paediatric First Aid certification.
    • Experience in a nursery, preschool, or childcare setting.
    • Additional training in safeguarding or special educational needs (SEN).
